Surrey History - Brooklands

Brooklands

Various pictures around the time British Aerospace closed its operations at Brooklands and some of the buildings were demolished.

This 35mm film was developed on 1 June 1990 but the pictures could have been taken some time before that.

I don't remember much about taking the pictures (well it was 30 years ago)

The following are from another film. Again I can't remember taking them. I put a number on the back of the prints, I can't remember my numbering scheme but they all start with 8706 so its possible it might be June 1987. Does anyone know if these pictures could have been taken then?

Steve McCarthy - To answer one of your questions on the photos, the VC10 flying into Brooklands was July 1987

OK, so the pictures weren't taken in june 1987, I'm reasonably certain that the 87 in my numbering scheme is the year so the pictures must have been taken later that year after the VC10 landed. I think I do remember now there was some publicity in the local paper about the last landing at Brooklands so I think I went sometime after that to take some pictures.

1987 Looks like the VC10 was originally parked at the end of the runway at the time. Then it must have been moved to where the museum is later.

1987 Is this the helicopter that regularly operated out of Brooklands? Looks like it was also based at the end of the runway.
